NEJM Gynecomastia Article now available for free
Just a note that the original article (February 2007) in the New England Journal of Medicine on Prepubertal Gynecomastia Linked to Lavender and Tea Tree Oils is now available here for free online. Apparently NEJM locks things up for about a year before publishing them at no charge. I imagine we will see another spate of media interest.

I was distressed to note that you are still propagating the story that tea tree oil is linked to gynecomastia based on the New England Journal of Medicine article N Engl J Med 2007;356:479-85. I would like to refer you to both a recent article by Robert Tisserand http://www.teatree.org.au/get_library.php?id=187 and also ATTIA’s response to the original article: http://www.teatree.org.au/get_library.php?id=186 which states in part:
Many researchers and scientist have looked at this article, and raised concern and alarm at the poor methodology and conclusions which are certainly not supported by science.
When such science is amplified by publication in a respected Journal, and the media beats up the story, it has damaging consequences out of all proportion to the facts. This article was uncritically reported around the world causing alarm and commercial impacts and fear. Is this responsible?
This article is bad science and a retraction is warranted.
